I’ve been following Friar Rick Riccioli’s blog and have always enjoyed reading what he has to say, except his latest post. Here are some harsh words by the good friar about a brother-in-faith Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone:
The Holy See’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Bertone, has the incredible ability to make a terrible situation worse through plain stupidity, ignorance (and if that wasn’t bad enough) the lack of discipline necessary to be a Vatican diplomat.
And here is the Cardinal’s statement:
Many psychologists, many psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no relationship between celibacy and paedophilia but many others have demonstrated, I was told recently, that there is a relationship between homosexuality and paedophilia. That is true. I have the documents of the psychologists. That is the problem.

I’d sooner trust that the good Cardinal has sufficient grounds for making such statement than to trust the mainstream media’s spin on his words. By “sufficient grounds” I mean:
Father Lombardi concluded by clarifying that "referred to here obviously is the problem of abuse by priests, and not in the population in general."
These statements are backed by the report published in 2004 by John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York, regarded as the most complete report on the sexual abuse crisis.
On studying the charges of sexual abuse presented against clerics between 1950 and 2002 in the United States, the report stated that an overwhelming majority of the victims -- 81% -- were males.

What else would you call a male engaging in sexual activities with another male, if not gay or homosexual? It is what it is.
